Traditionally, residential communities have opted to install and operate an in-house laundry facility, but this has proven to be a costly, time-intensive chore and the process turned out to be highly unreliable.

An alternative to this traditional option is to outsource the laundering of linen, towels and residents’ clothing to an experienced, external service provider. This is where Sunshine comes in and we’ve been helping residential communities throughout Australia for over 20 years.

Our comprehensive service provides peace of mind that linen and residents’ clothing will be collected, processed and delivered regularly and on time as well as being laundered to the highest hygiene standards of AS4146, the Australian Standard for Laundry Practice.

Outsourcing also allows the valuable space that’s usually allocated for an in-house laundry to be better utilised in other ways. Also, the costs of installing a laundry facility and all associated utilities and machinery can be saved and invested elsewhere. Even more importantly, staff are freed up to focus on caring for residents instead of being burdened by laundry duties.

Sunshine’s full residential communities’ service includes the supply and laundering of bed linen, towels and even table linen as well as the laundering and dry cleaning of clothing. We work with each of our communities to set up the best package for them, as we know something that might work for one company may not work for another.

Our cleaning units can each handle high volumes so even in the event that one of them experiences difficulties, detailed backup processes are in place so that others will back them up. In house laundries or smaller laundry service providers don’t have this advantage so in the event of power cuts, fires (a key risk for laundries), water mains bursting or other disasters, there is typically no backup available, potentially preventing the organisation from serving its residents.
